Dr. Ali Abbas is an Adjunct Professor at University of Ottawa; he is an entrepreneur & industry lead in Intelligent Health Informatics. Ali received his PhD and his M.Sc. degrees from University of Ottawa in Electrical and Computer Engineering, and his B.Eng. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Concordia University in Montreal. Ali is a passionate educator, always stating the example of excellence in teaching and mentoring, aiming to inspire the next generation of engineers. Aside from being a University Professor, Ali is the founder, CEO, and an AI strategist at Intelligent Digital Solutions, specializing in the design and deployment of advanced end to end AI agents’ solutions and multi-agent systems. With deep expertise in large language models (LLMs), agent orchestration, and enterprise AI architecture, he led the development of scalable, intelligent solutions that drive data-informed decision-making across complex environments.
Ali’s work, through uOttawa and Intelligent Digital Solutions bridges academia and industry, focusing on high-impact applications in healthcare, robotics, and enterprise analytics. They are recognized for shaping robust AI frameworks that integrate governance, innovation, and real-world deployment, while mentoring graduate students and advising organizations on next-generation agentic AI strategies. Ali also provid training and education to other publish and private institutes to use AI technologies and systems engineering techniques to deliver creative solutions. Ali is the founder and CEO of the Smart Digital Medicine, prior to that Ali was an architect and senior manager with eHealth Ontario. He was a team leader, architect, and manager and has held pivotal roles at several well-known Canadian companies, such as CAE Electronics; Nortel Networks; Mitel Networks, etc, where he led groundbreaking projects in cutting-edge technologies. Ali focused on implementing strategies to innovate and played an integral part in conceiving the essential product architecture, formulating its business plan, and successfully delivering complete end to end systems to users. Ali is Implementing tools to innovate, measure progress, sustain, and deploy innovative products to the market. Ali is researcher and his current research focus is on AI in Medical Engineering and Robotics, specifically in intelligent health informatics, telemedicine, vision-guided autonomous robotic surgery, developing Artificial Intelligence Algorithms for medical diagnosis and AI treatment plans, medical protocols modeling & automation, and innovating AI techniques for a complete end to end applications.
