Daniel Amyot joined the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at the University of Ottawa in 2002, following several years as a Senior Researcher at Mitel Networks. He holds a Ph.D. and an M.Sc. from the University of Ottawa (2001 and 1994, respectively), as well as a B.Sc. from Laval University (1992), all in Computer Science. He is also cross-appointed with the School of Engineering Design and Teaching Innovation (SEDTI), where he contributed to the design and launch of the Ph.D. in DTI program (2008–2014), served as Co-Director of DTI for two years, and has been Director of the Online Master's degree in DTI since 2023. His research interests span many domains, including requirements and software engineering, modelling (scenarios, goals, and business processes), regulatory compliance and intelligence, process mining, legal and smart contracts, generative AI, and healthcare informatics. He led the standardization of the User Requirements Notation (URN) at ITU-T (2002–2013) and the creation of the Symboleo language, both supported by dedicated tooling. He has led numerous process mining projects with government departments and hospitals, and created the Process Mining, Modelling, and Automation course offered in DTI, as well as teaching the DTI8101 seminar for over a decade. He is a member of OIQ (professional engineer), a Senior Member of IEEE, holds the I.S.P. designation from CIPS, is a member of ACM, and has served as former Chair of the SDL Forum Society (2019–2022) and of the Steering Committee of the Requirements Engineering conference (2019–2021).
